A Friend To Yourself

111 words

I think we naturally think of a ‘friend’ as someone else. Someone external to us. Someone that is, well, not you. We seldom think to be a friend to ourselves. It’s fairly difficult sometimes to treat yourself with the same compassion, empathy, or even support you would with someone else. Only when we share compassion internally we can genuinely share that same compassion externally. When you catch yourself being terrible to you, try be a friend to yourself for a moment. Find comfort from within and share it with your friends. Be kind to yourself.
